Caltech Dabney Hall Basement Renovation

New Construction / Renovations

Caltech commissioned the Wesely Thomas Design/Build team to convert a portion of the library space in the Dabney Hall building into Post Doctorate and student office spaces for the Humanities and Social Sciences division (HSS). The project comprises approximately 3,180 square feet and our goal was to create functional office spaces that complemented and preserved the historic nature of the building.

The Dabney Hall building was constructed in 1928 and is considered one of the jewels of the Caltech campus. Careful attention was paid throughout the design and construction to implement a solution that carried out many of the design elements of the original construction, to preserve historic elements within the space, and provide state of the art technology for the office users.
